St. Tammany Parish Library presents “Jazz from 1920 to 1940: Live Music & Short Lecture” with Christy and the Rascals Jazz Band. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear live music and learn about early jazz from local musicians at the Slidell Branch Library.

This evening of music is sponsored by the Friends of the Slidell Library. The Friends of the Slidell Library, a 501c(3) organization, founded in 1976, will celebrate their 36th anniversary in 2012.  F.S.L. provides funds for the purchase of items for the Slidell Branch Library and recently has included the Lacombe Branch and the Pearl River Branch libraries as recipients of their generosity. Christy and the Rascals Jazz Band members, consisting of Christy West, Helio Zavalza, Ed Genois, and Walt Mescal, are multi-instrumentalists capable of performing a wide variety of musical styles. The program will be offered at the Slidell Branch Library on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public, and registration is recommended.
