Stork Storytime

Stork Storytime READS encourages expecting families to develop a reading routine before baby (and chaos) arrive, enabling parents to become more confident as their child’s first teacher. Read 100 books! Adults become more comfortable reading out loud and older children can practice their literacy skills. It’s a wonderful bonding experience and sets the tone and expectation that reading is important and valued at home. This program is also a great segue to the 1000 Books before Kindergarten program.

How does it work?

We have two tools for you to use to keep track of the books that you read.

  1. Use our online app. (Coming soon!)
  2. Download and print a reading log- First 50 Books  and  Last 50 Books. Or ask for one at your local branch of the St. Tammany Parish Library.

Mark an "egg" each time you spent reading aloud.

Visit our Library Babies page for ideas for books to read.

If you fill up both logs before your baby is born- keep reading!

Once your bundle of joy is here, start reading 1000 Books Before Kindergarten!

Thank you North Liberty Library for the great idea and the cute logo!
