Summer Reading Challenge FAQ

  • The Summer & Winter Reading Challenges are designed for all ages, from birth through adult, and offer fun activities and incentives to foster a love of reading. The programs promote reading and basic literacy skills throughout the summer/winter months. The goal is to encourage reading as a lifelong habit by drawing in reluctant readers with fun enrichment activities and helping students build their literacy skills.

  • No, you do not need a library card to sign up.  It's easy to get a library card, or replace a lost card.

  • Beanstack is our web-based Summer Reading Program management software. It allows you to track your minutes to earn badges and prizes, and receive weekly personalized book recommendations!

  • Visit sttammanylibrary.beanstack.com/reader365 and select “Register and Individual or Family” to get started. Follow the prompts to create your account.

  • Read ANYTHING that you want! You receive 1 point for each minute you read, and the goal is to read for 20 minutes a day.  When you reach 720 points, you have completed the challenge!
