Connecting Online with Loved Ones During Covid-19

Video chatting has become a popular way to connect with loved ones and friends as we all practice social distancing during Covid-19. Whether you consider yourself techie or not, there’s a video chatting app for you! Take a look at the top three video chatting apps for meeting with a group:

  • Zoom – Currently one of the most popular video chatting services, you can use Zoom for free to connect to up to 100 people at a time. While meetings are usually limited to 40 minutes if used for free, the company is currently allowing users to host meetings with no time limits in response to Covid-19. You’ll need to create an account to get started.
  • Skype – This is an easy to use option that requires either an email address or phone number to get started. Your family members or friends would also need to sign up for the service. Once everyone is signed up, you can search for friends or family by name, email, or phone number. Skype allows you to make video calls, phone calls, or connect with others using an instant messenger.
  • Google Hangouts – Already a fan of free Google products such as Gmail or Google Drive? Then Google Hangouts might be for you. Hangouts allows you to speak with a group of 25 people for free. You can make video calls, phone calls, or chat with an instant messenger. Have a business? Then try Google Meet. Google Meet will allow you to video chat with up to 250 people at once. While Google Meet is not normally free, it is currently being offered for free in response to Covid-19.
