Imagine Tons of Fun Teen Events!

The library's Teen Services Department has designed weeks full of June fun for St. Tammany teens! We hope you'll join us on Zoom for:

Museum Mondays

Join us on the Zoom platform for a virtual, hands-on sculpture series with our Artist-in-Residence Ms.Jennifer Waller at 4 p.m. each Monday in June!  Register for one or all four of the workshops where Ms. Jen tells a story with an Art History lesson followed with a clay project.  On the last day, we will have an interview with Ms. Jen and she will answer your questions about Art as a career!

Don't have clay at home? No worries! You can pick up clay at the Causeway, Covington, Madisonville, or Slidell Branches. Supplies will be available starting the Thursday before the event.  Call when you get to the library and they will bring the grab 'n 'go bag outside for curbside pickup.

Monday, June 1 - Who was the Mad Potter of Biloxi? And why was he called Mad? - Learn about George Ohr and try your hand at making a crazy pinch pot. 
 

Monday, June 8Coiled Pottery - What is coiled pottery and can you make a coiled vessel?

Monday, June 15 - Newcomb Pottery and the Arts and Crafts Movement - Be inspired by the women artists that grew out of Tulane University.
 

Monday, June 22 - Picasso’s ceramics - Look at Picasso's famous 3D ceramics and make your own piece inspired by his work.

Monday, June 29 - "Wanna be an Artist?" INTERVIEW FOLLOWED BY Q&A

Tasty Tuesdays

Join us for a virtual cooking demonstration series with our favorite ladies from Culinary Kids, Ms. Sherri and Ms. Jill!  Register for one or all four of the workshops presented at 2:30 p.m. each Tasty Tuesday in June.  The four cooking workshops will tie-in with...STORIES. She'll be mixing up stories, new and old, and story characters with delish dishes for a fun cooking demo (not to mention tips & techniques just for teens)!  A list of ingredients and the recipe will be provided if you want to cook along in your kitchen or you can just watch and enjoy the kitchen antics!

On the last day, we will have an interview with Ms. Sherri and she will answer your questions!

Tuesday, June 9 - WE LOVE WIZARDS!!! Today's workshop is a nod to our fav wizards from Harry Potter: Pancake Art Challenge with Homemade Whipped Cream

Tuesday, June 16 -  Today is a Mad Hatter Tea Party: Cucumber Sandwiches with Herbal Cream Cheese and Tea-Infused English Scones

Tuesday, June 23 - Imagine Your Story with the Wonders of Waffle Irons! Use a waffle iron in an imaginative way....waffle iron toasted ham and cheese sandwich, cinnamon rolls and BROWNIES from scratch!

Tuesday, June 30 - "Wanna be a Chef?" INTERVIEW FOLLOWED BY Q&A

Can you Imagine Your Story...in COMICS?!  Join us on Zoom for the ANIME YOUR WAY series taught by special guest Carlos Nieto III, a layout artist for The Simpsons and King of the Hill,  who will present his workshops for budding artists at 4 p.m.each Thursday in June! Come ready to draw. You will need paper and pens/pencils/etc.

Register for one or all three of the workshops.  The last workshops will be an interview with Mr. Carlos.
