This summer, 85 St. Tammany teens aged 12 to 18 read a whopping 37,832 minutes for the “Imagine Your Story Teen Summer Reading Challenge”.
Teens who read 720 minutes, or 12 hours, were entered into random drawings for a $50 gift card to the St. Tammany retailer of their choice and the grand prize of $100 Gift Card to Best Buy. The winners for the gift cards were drawn on Monday, August 10. Congratulations to the winners Abby Laine Kesler, Aiden Sweetland, Talia Salem, and Kayla Harris; and a special thank you for all the teens that participated in the Summer Reading Challenge despite the challenging circumstances! The Teen Department loved seeing your faces every day at the Zoom Virtual Events!
Teens can look forward to more fun virtual events this month with Crafternoons, the AniManga Club and the new Book Tasting: Chapter of the Month Teen Book Club! Can’t commit to a whole book now that school is starting? This is the book club for you! Join Ms. Abby and Ms. Charlene who will spotlight a different teen book each month when you listen to the first chapter together for a taste of the book. All books chosen will have a virtual copy and a physical copy available for check-out. This month teens will sample An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson.
