SSgt. Joseph Foto

 
Staff Sgt. Joseph Foto was also born in New Orleans. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps for World War II and was an aerial gunner on B-24s as a member of the 15th Air Force, 459th Bomb Group, 479th Squadron, stationed in Fogia, Italy. On his 13th mission, his plane went down and he was stranded in Italy for 50 days. He received a bronze star and an air medal with 2 oak leaf clusters for his service. He lives in Mandeville.
