General Questions
Most events require online registration. You can click on the title of the event to see the full event description. You can then register using the blue register button. Need more help? Watch the event tutorial, opens a new window.
We host all of our virtual events through Zoom, opens a new window. We'll email you a Zoom invite link, opens a new window close to the event time. If you don't see your Zoom invite link 30 minutes before the event, check your email's spam or junk mail folder. If you still don't see it, contact adultprograms@stpl.us, opens a new window for adult programs, teens@stpl.us for teen programs, children@stpl.us for kids programs, or reference@stpl.us for technology programs for adults. Simply click on the link and follow the prompts to get connected to Zoom, opens a new window. You can also copy and paste the link in your web browser. If you've already downloaded the Zoom app, opens a new window, you'll see a popup box that will help you get connected to the event. If not, you'll be taken to a webpage that will have the option for you to download and run Zoom. Next, you'll be prompted to enter a Zoom meeting ID and a passcode to login to the event. We recommend entering the event about 15 minutes prior to the start of the event in order to address any technical issues that may arise. Got more questions? You can still interact with the presenter and other participants by using the chat, opens a new window feature. The chat box is located at the bottom of the screen during a Zoom meeting. You can use it to type messages to everyone in the class or to send a message directly to the presenter.
For some of our Zoom events, microphones and cameras may be disabled in order to limit distractions and protect the privacy of all participants. If an event does allow for microphones and cameras to be turned on, please contact the presenter using the chat, opens a new window feature if you are having technical issues. You can also view our Zoom tutorial, opens a new window, which gives a basic overview on how to use your microphone and camera in our Zoom events.
Please make sure you are using a compatible web browser with Zoom. Google Chrome, opens a new window, Firefox, opens a new window, and Safari, opens a new window should all work with Zoom. Please also be sure to enter your Zoom meeting ID and passcode carefully. The presenter will end the meeting for everyone once the event is completely over. If you need to leave before the end, click the red leave button. You should receive the option to leave the event early.
