by Noelle Williams, Reference Services Coordinator

Did you know that your student can get a head start on a research project or paper from school? Just use the library! Some of the databases we often recommend to students for their research needs can be used at school. The only requirement to use them is a library card! Below is a list of our favorite databases that students can use from school:

Gale Databases – Know a student with a big research project coming up? Then you’re in luck! This year, the Library’s Gale databases can be used at school. Our collection of Gale databases includes Gale In Context: Opposing Viewpoints, which offers credible information and statistics on today's hottest social issues, from civil rights to immigration to quarantining measures; Gale Literature Criticism, which provides extensive literary commentary on famous authors’ works; and Gale Power Search, which provides newspaper, magazine and academic journal articles.

Global Road Warrior – Helping a student with a project about a country? Global Road Warrior provides in-depth information on 175 countries. This database contains maps, information about famous landmarks, national recipes, language dictionaries, and other content. Interested in learning about a specific city? Then you’ll need to check out AtoZ World Travel, too!

Scholastic Go – Adults looking for an easy to use database for an elementary school student should check out Scholastic Go. This resource includes content that is perfectly suited for students to use in the classroom, for homework, or for satisfying their curiosity about the world. An atlas, dictionaries, international newspapers, and more are available from Scholastic GO!

TrueFlix – Need information about Ancient China? Looking for a quick guide to solar power? Then TrueFlix is for you! This database offers engaging eBooks that cover various science and social studies topics for students in grades 3 to 6. Most eBooks come with additional videos and quizzes to help students better understand each topic.
