Author Visits

St. Tammany Parish Library will host children's authors, Chris Barton and Emma Bland Smith, this month! Each author will have their own separate events and at the end of each event, there will be book signings, refreshments and a book giveaway!

Chris Barton

Chris Barton, author of more than 20 books for young readers will be at the Covington Branch, opens a new window, on Tuesday, October 24 at 6:30 P.M.

Kids of all ages are invited to meet award-winning author Chris Barton! Mr. Barton will talk about being an author and how YOU can write about what you want to learn. He will be featuring his book How to Make a Book (About My Dog).

Families are invited to come EARLY and enjoy our Fire Truck vs. Dragon vs. Shark vs. Train Family Drop-In at 4:30 P.M. as we get ready for our visit with author Chris Barton! We will be celebrating all of Mr. Barton's books with crafts, a Scavenger Hunt, Games, and a Fire Truck vs. Dragon StoryWalk®. You will also get to vote in the battle royal Fire Truck vs. Dragon vs. Shark vs. Train and determine who will reign supreme!

Emma Bland Smith

Emma Bland Smith, a librarian and award-winning author of many books for children, will be at the Slidell Branch, opens a new window on October 25 at 6:30 P.M.

Kids of all ages are invited to join Emma as she reads Claude: The True Story of the White Alligator, winner of the Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice Award. She will also show photos of the real Claude, share behind-the-scenes stories, and answer questions from audience members.

Families are invited to come EARLY to our Alligator Family Drop-In at 4:30 P.M. as we get ready for our visit with author Emma Bland Smith and her book Claude: The True Story of a White Alligator. We will celebrate everything ALLIGATOR! There will be Alligator Crafts, a Scavenger Hunt, Games, and a Claude: The True Story of a White Alligator StoryWalk®.
