Grow with the Library

The Library offers many resources to help you go from a brown to a green thumb. From books and audiobooks available in the branch to online books, courses, and databases filled with updated information on growing into the gardener you have always wanted to be.

Throughout the year, Master Gardeners will provide Q and A sessions at the Pearl River branch and they also host a Garden Fest in the Spring at the Covington Branch.

Garden Fest is held annually at the library by the Master Gardeners, the LSU AgCenter, and several plant vendors are all present at this event to help aspiring gardeners learn more about what's growing in their yard.

The Slidell Branch is home to a community Herb Garden that was created in partnership with St. Tammany Parish Master Gardeners and the Friends of the Slidell Library, opens a new window. Several raised garden boxes are filled with herbs and native plants.

The Friends of the Slidell Library also provides used book sales and auctions each month to help support programs and projects like the Slidell Library Herb Garden.

Cultivating Culture donated a Seed Library to the Slidell Branch in March of 2024. Seeds are provided as part of a seed saving program, where patrons are invited to take seeds to grow, harvest and return saved seeds for future gardening patrons.

Over the years, seeds have been donated to help the project from rotating local community agencies, including the Friends of the Slidell Library.
