While not as popular here in the south as it is in Canada and the north, poutine is a delicious treat during the sometimes still chilly month of March.
Poutine is a dish consisting of French fries and cheese curds topped with brown gravy. Poutine originated in diners in Quebec, Canada in the late 1950’s. While the traditional serving of poutine consists of these three ingredients it is very common to add additional ingredients such as turkey, beef, duck and pulled pork. Creative chefs have even created a “poutine pizza” that combines the two comfort foods.
