4th Annual Library Con: All Fandoms Convention

Tanya DiMaggio, Children's Services Coordinator

Can’t make it to the Comic Con in New Orleans this January or are you looking for more convention fun? Come to Library Con from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, at the Madisonville Library!

Children, teens, families and adults are invited to the library's fourth annual Library Con, a free all fandoms convention. Fans of Dungeons and Dragons, gaming, Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Dr. Who, comic books, graphic novels, manga, anime, Pokémon, cosplay, Lego, super heroes, and anything else are welcomed. Costumes are encouraged and there will be a costume parade at 3:30 p.m.

Our featured events include “Gamesplain,” a talk for parents and kids who are interested in tabletop and pencil games. Gamesplain will include everything you wanted to know about Dungeons and Dragons but were afraid to ask.

We will also have a live Pac-Man game on the lawn. Inside there will be a Dungeons and Dragons game for ages 12 and up plus a Pokémon tournament and even a Go Fish tournament for the youngest conventioneers.

Members of Starfleet U.S.S. New Orleans will be on hand to play a Star Trek game and to pose for photos in their Starfleet uniforms. Other costumed characters will be available for photo ops too.

There will be a display of cosplay costumes and experienced cosplayers on hand to answer questions.  We will also have a photo booth, crafts, games, free comics, a fan art and fiction show and more.Contact your local branch library or visit our website for more info and for a submission form to enter Fan Art or Fan Fiction.

The program is free and open to the public. Children ages 9 and under may not be left unattended at any St. Tammany Parish Library. Library Con is a family friendly event. Library staff reserves the right to turn away costumes and fan art that are not appropriate.
