A (Virtual) Evening With Award-winning Author Julie Berry

by Jennifer Rifino and JoAnna Reeves

The St. Tammany Parish Library is delighted to host a virtual visit for children, teens and families with award-winning and New York Times bestselling author Julie Berry at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 6, on the Zoom platform.

Julie Berry has written books for readers of all ages, from picture book to middle-grade fiction to works for young adults.  Her books for younger readers include the picture book Happy Right Now, and her highly anticipated middle-grade fiction title Wishes and Wellingtons, set to release in October of 2020. Her works for teens include All the Truth That’s in Me (which was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal) and Printz Honor book The Passion of Dolssa.  Her young adult novel Lovely War won the Golden Kite Award from the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators in February, and this summer was awarded the Amelia Walden Prize from the National Council of Teachers of English for “a book that exemplifies literary excellence, widespread appeal and a positive approach to life in young adult literature.”

Growing up, Julie dreamed of being many things – a marine biologist, a chemist, a mother, a gymnast, a Solid Gold Dancer – but always, writing was on the back of her mind. After fulfilling her family dream with raising her four children, she began to pursue her dream of writing.

Her follow up to picture book Happy Right Now, Cranky Right Now, will be released in May 2021.  To learn more about Julie Berry and her books, visit her website.

Julie Berry’s books are available for purchase online at Barnes & Noble.  Books purchased online and picked up at the B&N Mandeville location will contain an autographed bookplate while quantities last.

Online registration is required.  Visit our online event calendar to register.
