LOFSA FAFSA Completion Workshop for College-bound Seniors and Parents

by Jennifer Rifino, Teen Services Coordinator

The Teen Department has partnered with the Louisiana Office of Financial Student Affairs (LOFSA) to present a FAFSA completion workshop for college-bound high school seniors and their parents.

LOFSA Public Information Representatives will be available on Saturday, February 17, from 9 to 11 a.m.at the Madisonville Library to assist students and parents in completing the FAFSA.

Completing the FAFSA is the first step to take in order to receive most forms of federal student aid including Pell Grants, low-interest federal student loans and to participate in the federal Work Study program. In addition, several state student financial aid programs, including the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) scholarship program and the Louisiana Go Grant need-based aid program, require completion of the FAFSA in order to qualify for and access funds. Many campus-based institutional scholarships also require completion of the FAFSA.

The event is free and open to the public. Seating space is limited, and online registration is required.  Please remember to bring 2016 taxes and Social Security numbers in order to complete the FAFSA.
