Recycle Your Solar Eclipse Glasses at the Library

The St. Tammany Parish Library is currently accepting gently used solar eclipse glasses in partnership with Astronomers Without Borders (AWB). Patrons can stop by any STPL branch and drop them off to staff at the circulation desk.

AWB is an American organization that strives to inspire, build community and share their passion for astronomy with the globe.

The purpose towards the recycling campaign is to not only provide proper eclipse eyewear to underprivileged schools and communities, but also to allow for the glasses to get more use before eventually depositing into landfills.

Currently as of May 3rd 2024, St. Tammany Parish Library is the sole AWB collection spot for eclipse glasses in the state of Louisiana.

Please only recycle your eclipse glasses with us if they are gently used and if the lenses haven’t been damaged.
