Storytimes Return January 21st, 2020!

If you know a child ages 0-5, then you won't want to miss STPL's amazing storytimes.  Our spring storytime session will run from January 21st through April 17th.  Among our 12 branches, we offer storytimes almost every single day of the week, including special monthly Thursday evening and Saturday storytimes at the Slidell and Madisonville Branches.  Our storytime dates and times are too numerous to list here, but you can find a list of all of our storytimes and early learning programs on our events calendar, or by clicking the links below. This storytime session we will also welcome two brand new children's librarians at our South Slidell and Mandeville locations. You can find out more about all of our outstanding children's librarians here.

Storytime at the Covington location will not begin until the week of February 10th, 2020 following the grand re-opening of our newly renovated Covington location.  We appreciate your patience!

Storytime Schedule & Information About Early Learning Programs:

Storytime: Storytimes introduce the child to the best in children's books. Because a child responds naturally to the rhythm of words and the repetition of sounds, storytimes include nursery rhymes, poetry, fingerplays and songs. The child who attends storytime regularly will develop an enjoyment and appreciation of books, the ability to concentrate, and the ability to participate in group activities. We offer various storytimes for babies & toddlers, preschools, and all ages.  The full storytime schedule and more information about each storytime can be found here

Playdate: Playdates are an opportunity for preschoolers and toddlers, along with their caregivers to play with toys and learning materials in an early literacy environment. Play date fosters vocabulary and other pre-reading skills. Stop by the library and play!  The full play date schedule can be found here

Music and Movement: Music and movement features interactive stories, music and songs perfect for young children ages 0-5. Kids have fun while being introduced to early literacy concepts. Get ready to shake, shimmy and dance!  The full music and movement schedule can be found here

We hope to see you and any of the little ones in your life at the library soon.  In the meantime, don't forget to talk, sing, read, write, and play together!  If you have any questions you may contact your local branch or contact the children's services department at (985)893-6280 x 2017. You may also email children@stpl.us.  For more information about early learning at the library, click here

For your child's safety, children ages 9 and under may not be left unattended at any branch of St. Tammany Parish Library.
