About Adult Programs

The Adult Program Department's goal is to provide adult programs to attract people to the library and motivate them to utilize all library resources, to serve the intellectual and information needs of the parish’s adult population through reading, writing, demonstration, lecture, or discussion programs, which are open to the public.

Mission Statement

The mission of St. Tammany Parish Library Adult Services Department reflects the St. Tammany Parish Library’s mission. The Adult Services Department’s mission is to serve the intellectual and information needs of the parish’s adult population.
To accomplish this mission effectively, we will:

  • Provide a diverse, broad and relevant collection of information, including print and nonprint materials, services, and programs* to adults with the goal of developing lifelong library users
  • Encourage the development of skills for finding, evaluating and using information effectively
  • Offer access to current and emerging technology
  • Promote the library in the community

 *A library-sponsored program is an event that is planned, organized, and coordinated by STPL staff, possibly in conjunction with community organizations or businesses, which reflects the views and mission of STPL.
