Happy Birthday, Louisa May Alcott!

Louisa May Alcott, opens a new window was born on November 29, 1832 in Germantown, PA to Amos and Abigail Alcott.  She was the second of four daughters.  Louisa and her sisters were taught by their father.  Louisa began writing at an early age, often her stories would be acted out by her and her sisters for friends.  She published her first book, Flower Fables, in 1854 at the age of 22.  Then in 1868, she published her most famous work Little Women.  Alcottt also published 3 books under the pseudonym A. M. Barnard in the 1860s. She passed away on March 6, 1888 two days after her father's death.
