Get Your Ticket to Experience the Library!

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. This year’s theme is “Get Your Ticket to Experience the Library!

Library cards are more than a number on a piece of plastic, but a ticket to a world of resources, events and imagination at your fingertips. St. Tammany Parish Library (STPL) invites all future patrons to one of our 12 branch locations, to become a part of our Library community. A library card gives patrons access to over 1.9 million physical and digital items combined, Online Library resources and databases and all the programming STPL has to offer. All St. Tammany Parish residents, ages five and older, are eligible to get a Library card. Minors (ages 5-17) do require a parent to apply for a library card and choose their appropriate material level. Visit one of the 12 STPL branch locations or fill out the application online at this link: sttammanylibrary.org/LibraryCard. As an extra bonus, replacement for lost library cards will be free for the entire month of September.

September is also Hunger Action Month, and in community partnership, STPL will collect donations for the Samaritan Center, First Baptist Church of Slidell Food Pantry, the Northshore Food Bank and the Bush Food Pantry, with the program Food for Fines. Food for Fines allows each patron the opportunity to waive fines with a charitable donation of nonperishable food. Each nonperishable food item donated will be worth $1 of fine forgiveness for late and lost items. Nonperishable food items will be accepted inside STPL branches during normal business hours starting September 1 through September 30.
