Swing Dance Lessons for Beginners

by Jillian Boudreaux, Adult Programming Coordinator

Learn the basic steps of East Coast Swing from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday, July 11, at the Causeway Branch, 3457 Hwy. 190.  Non-rubber soled shoes make this style of dancing easier, but no special dress code is required to participate.

Diana & Kerry Lovell will teach this easy-to-learn style of dance. Currently, they compete in national events of USA Dance, the National Governing Body for DanceSport in the United States. Diana was born in London, U.K., where she performed in a formation team.  Since 2006, she has been a competitive dancer in the U.S. Kerry is a New Orleans native who first learned to dance from his mother and has been competing with Diana since 2014.

The classes are free and open to the public. Space is limited to adults. Register online or call the library at (985) 626-9779.
